In 1983, First Baptist Church of Waterloo dedicated the first Mechanical Action Tracker Organ in Waterloo. There are still less than a half dozen of these fine organs installed in the Cedar Valley area. The organ was built by W. Zimmer and Sons, Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina, the company that brought the art of European organ building to the United States. With two manuals, twenty-one speaking stops and twenty-six ranks – over 1000 pipes, it has a a very unique and magnificent sound and is a joy to the ears and the spirit. Over 350 members contributed over $113,000 and their great faith in the future of this church to bring this beautiful gift to First Baptist.
