American Baptist Women’s Ministries (ABWM)
Women are called within the Church to minister in today’s world. Programs and Circles meet throughout the year and serve the church and global community. Opportunity for service benefits the women of ABWM as persons and the valuable mission projects to which the Church is committed. ABWM provides opportunities for each woman to become and develop as God’s person, build God’s community, and serve God’s world. Some of their projects include serving meals for funerals, weddings and special receptions; serving in the community for Meals on Wheels, Church women United, Dayton Oaks Camp and Conference Center, Red Cross, River Hills School, Irving School, etc.; and giving financially to help with ABWM projects.
The Friendly Stars Circle meets the third Thursday of every month for lunch at 12:15 p.m. at Friendship Village Lakeview Lodge, Door A.
The Unity Circle meets the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the church. The current chairperson is Shirley Baldwin, phone 319-235-7789.
Sisters in the Spirit
Women of the church and their friends gather to gain knowledge on different topics. During this fellowship time, activities, crafts, or a presentation brings the group together to focus on their relationship with God. Sisters in the Spirit meet on an irregular basis as announced. Check our calendar for the next date.
Quilters
Dedicated seamstresses work together every week on beautiful labors of love. The quilting room has produced hand-made quilted designs, along with a time of special friendships, new and old. The Quilters meet on the main floor, in the first room on the left at the top of the back stairs, at noon on Tuesdays.
